Whut? Goodness, what will the summer reading program do without you? Is this part of the austerity plan to get rid of all the folks with seniority and hire right out of school?

Best wishes! I'm sure you will find lots of exciting ways to spend your time that aren't retiring at all!

Wow, Wendie! Congratulations (if it is what you wanted.) I hope this means more writing and happy-making times for you.

Yes, It's a Retirement, not a push-out-to-replace-with-younger. even thought they, of course will have to replace me with a younger librarian, since I was one of the oldest ones there. :-)

On the other hand, they're reducing the status of my position so that they can use the extra money to give more hours to the YA position. Which is okay, because she will probably also pick up more Children's librarian's responsibilities, including more with the Summer Reading Program. She has worked with me with the Summer Reading Program for a few years now and will handle things easily.

ON the third hand -- more writing time will be NICE.
